Intersection Artist

Eliza Dunaway is a full-time, Charlotte-based visual artist whose work centers on drawing and painting from life. For the past two years, she has taught painting and drawing workshops across North and South Carolina and regularly participates in plein air painting competitions, where her work has received awards. 

Her practice emphasizes observation, place, and community, often working on location in urban environments. She currently teaches urban sketching workshops through Culture Blocks programming, supported by the Arts & Science Council and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. Eliza also leads Urban Sketchers CLT, a local chapter of Urban Sketchers International, an organization dedicated to drawing on location and sharing work globally.

Watch as four to five painters capture the spirit of the event in real time, creating vivid scenes and portraits of festival moments as they unfold. Audiences are invited to engage with the artists, witness the creative process up close, and see the festival come alive on canvas. The finished artworks will serve as lasting visual reflections of the festival’s unique character and sense of place, making this live painting experience an unforgettable highlight that is spontaneous, responsive, and rooted in the moment.
