Shilpi Bansal

Intersection Artist

Shilpi Bansal is an Indian artist with over ten years of experience creating interactive, community-centered art rooted in traditional Indian art forms. Her artistic practice spans a variety of mediums, including acrylic painting and sculptural work using materials such as clay and mirrors.

Her work focuses on engaging children, families, and the general public through hands-on participation, using art as a medium for expression, learning, and connection. A major part of her practice has been leading the Kids Art Corner at Festival of India events across Charlotte, Matthews, and Ballantyne for over six years. In these events, she plans and facilitates collaborative art experiences with approximately 400 students each year.

She approaches the creative process as open and collaborative, and her work is most often shared in public and festival settings where art becomes a shared experience rather than a passive object.

Rooted in traditional Indian art, "Rooted Together" invites audiences into a hand-drawn world of symbols, stories, and shared meaning. Visitors will encounter a large illustrated landscape filled with figures, animals, patterns, and natural elements, organized around a central tree that represents balance, growth, and coexistence.

Carefully outlined scenes await color, and festival-goers are invited to step in and fill these spaces, becoming part of the story as it unfolds. As more people participate, the artwork gradually transforms into a vibrant communal tapestry, shaped by many hands and reflecting a collective vision of harmony and connection.
