Dionne Hunter

Intersection Artist

Dionne D. Hunter is a Charlotte-based author and spoken word artist whose work explores identity, legacy, and the power of positive representation. A U.S. Navy Veteran and 2024 AMG Spoken Word Artist of the Year, she is also the 2025 2nd Place Winner of the Jaki Shelton Green Performance Poetry Award and the 2023 Best Spoken Word Performance honoree at the International Poetry and Video Awards in Athens, Greece, where she performed live on the international stage.

Dionne is the founder of A Night of Artistic Renewal, a platform and film series celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. It centers artists with a special focus on Black voices through poetry, music, dance, and visual art. Her curated events, films, and personal performances blend coming-of-age narratives, heritage, self-definition, and truth-telling, delivering work that is intimate, courageous, and community-centered. Through this work, she invites audiences to reflect, heal, and move forward. Her mission is simple: to use language as a catalyst so people feel seen, restored, and positively represented.
